Walled Lake History

Walled Lake, Michigan

Walled Lake is the 4th largest body of water in Oakland County and is located 1/3 in Walled Lake and 2/3 in Novi. It covers just over 1 square mile (670 acres) and reaches a depth of over 53 feet.

The history of Walled Lake is blended with the history of Oakland County, Commerce Township, and Novi Township. The exact origin of the name is not known, however it could be derived from a curious structure that formed parallel to the water. See below to learn more!
